Warm, sunny summers with beaches, boating, and golf. Surrounded by three lakes—Okanagan, Kalamalka, and Swan—Vernon also has milder winters than much of Canada. There’s still snow, but SilverStar Resort is nearby for skiing and dozens of wineries are just a short drive away. Easy access to Kelowna International Airport makes travel convenient for snowbirds, commuters, and remote workers. Vernon offers a mix of lakefront condos, resort-style communities, and maintenance-free homes perfect for part-time living.
Located at 9845 East Side Road in Okanagan Landing, the Outback is one of Vernon’s premier vacation communities. It sits right on Okanagan Lake with private beaches, a marina, pools, hot tubs, and tennis courts, plus Ellison Provincial Park next door. Home options range from two-bedroom Trout Lake units to forest cabins and South Bay homes with spectacular views. This gated community is ideal for lock-and-leave living and short-term rentals are allowed. Prices in 2025 range from $499K to over $2 million.
Just 12 minutes from downtown Vernon at 7343 Okanagan Landing Road, The Strand is a lakefront condo development with a heated pool, hot tub, marina, private beach, and underground parking. Units range from one to four bedrooms, many with lake views. Perfect for snowbirds or anyone wanting a turnkey second home. Current prices range from $405K to $675K, with larger waterfront units selling for over $1 million.
About 15 minutes south of Vernon, Predator Ridge is a world-class golf resort with 36 championship holes, fitness facilities, restaurants, walking trails, and even its own fire department. Owners also enjoy access to Sparkling Hill Resort and Spa. Housing includes apartments, townhomes, duplexes, and custom homes, with full maintenance included and no speculation tax. Located at 7760 Okanagan Landing Road, The Seasons is a partially gated community with a clubhouse, outdoor pool, fitness room, and pickleball courts. These are detached single-family homes with low-maintenance designs and many have lake or city views. It’s close to Paddlewheel Park, the Yacht Club, and downtown Vernon. Homes generally range from $868K to over $1 million. The Seasons offers a quiet, community-focused environment great for seasonal or lock-and-leave living.
Parker Cove: Located on Westside Road, Parker Cove offers leasehold homes right on Okanagan Lake, creating a strong snowbird community. Prices range from $215K to $625K. While some buyers avoid leasehold land, it provides an affordable alternative.
Swan Lake RV Resort: At 8000 Highland Road, this gated bare land strata features RVs and park model homes. Though Swan Lake is not ideal for swimming, it’s a great location with prices from $235K to $438K. A solid choice for snowbirds seeking a home base.
SilverStar Mountain: For winter seasonal living, SilverStar offers ski-in, ski-out condos and chalets with strong rental demand and short-term rental opportunities. Prices range from $140K to $2 million. A great fit for investors or part-time winter residents.
