South Vernon is a compact area that lies relatively close to downtown Vernon plus has ready access to elementary and secondary schools within walking distance for kids.  It is a popular family location in the city.

South Vernon is a smaller sub area of Vernon which includes the area between Okanagan Avenue and Vernon Creek, south from the intersection of 43rd Street and Okanagan Landing Road to Graham Park.  There is also a newer section of South Vernon which is closer to the newer Fulton and Ellison Schools.
